DEAR KILTED SCOTSMAN: A Curvy Girl Romance (SINCERELY YOURS Book 8) Page 3
“What are you doing?”
"I dropped something last night, and I want it back," I call over my shoulder without looking at him.
I feel him move up beside me. He reaches his hand out in front of me, holding my letter. I reach for it, but he pulls it back, so I can’t get it.
“That’s mine.” I turn to face him.
“What do you mean you won’t be a guest much longer?”
I try and grab for it again, but this dress is not easy to move around in, and he's quick.
“It’s time for me to move on.”
“But I don’t want you to go,” he admits, but I see the hesitation in the truth of his words the moment it leaves his lips.
"Well, you could have fooled me."
He only shakes his head, apparently not understanding my anger. “I don’t—”
"You can't kiss someone like you did and then turn around and ignore them like you did with me.”
“You think I didn’t like that kiss?” He steps towards me. “Do you know how hard it was not to take you in my arms and kiss you like you’ve never been kissed before.”
“But you ignored me.”
"I had to put some distance between us because I knew if I got close enough to smell the floral scent of your hair, to feel your body close to mine, to taste your sweet lips,” he says, his voice wavering on that last part. “I want you so bad it hurts. And I know I’m not strong enough to hold back when you are so close.”
He wraps one arm around my waist and cups my face with his hand. I can barely pull in a breath when he looks at me like he is right now. He rests his forehead against mine.
“Please stay,” he whispers.

BRIANNA
“Okay,” I breathe out, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Are you sure?” he asks, his voice rough with emotion. “I’m not sure I can handle losing you if we go beyond this.”
I'm barely able to nod once before Colin cups my face in his hands and crushes his lips against mine. The pent-up sexual tension that simmered between us all day heats up quickly and boils over.
"Can anyone see us?" I ask as he kisses a scorching hot trail down my neck. I look over his shoulder, but we are far enough away that no one can see us where we are.
But Colin doesn’t take any chances. He cups my ass in his strong hands and lifts me like I weigh nothing. My dress is flowy enough that I’m able to wrap my legs around his waist as he walks us away from the festival and further into the trees.
The press of his hard cock against my aching center with each step intensifies, and I can barely hold back the noises that want to escape me. Colin sets me down on a large rock that is jutting out of the earth. It’s the perfect height for him to press himself between my thighs and thrust against me.
His mouth captures my moans of pleasure as he thrusts against me. But at this moment, I couldn’t care if anyone heard us. All I want is him, and nothing else matters.
I tug at the loose shirt and run my hands up and down the muscled plains of his chest. I reach for his pants' button but remember that he's not wearing pants, but a kilt.
I chuckle to myself, and he pulls his lips away from mine to look me in the eye.
“What’s so funny?” he asks, his tone serious and his expression hesitant.
“I thought the kilt on you was sexy before, but I could get used to this easy access.”
Colin’s eyes soften, and a rumble of a laugh reverberates deep in his chest. “Aye, me too.”
“But here’s the million-dollar question,” I continue, gathering the fabric up.
His eyebrow quirks up slightly, but the smug smile on his face tells me that he already knows what I'm about to ask him.
“What am I going to find under this thing?” I ask and run my hang beneath the tartan fabric and find only his eager cock waiting for me.
“A true Scotsman doesn’t wear anything under his kilt.”
“Good to know.” I grip the thick shaft and run my hands up and down.
“You should probably know that you aren’t the only one with nothing on underneath.”
A hiss escapes between his teeth as he tries to control himself from my words and my touch. “Woman, you’ll be the death of me.”
"We don't want that," I tease and stop my hand.
“Dinnae, stop," he growls.
I smile to myself, enjoying the control I seem to have over him, the same way he does with me. I begin to move again, and the friction from my grip and the revelation that I, too, am going commando makes Colin groan. It’s enough to set my pussy on fire. I need to feel him inside me right now. I release him and use both hands to hike up my skirt as quickly as possible. Colin positions himself at my wet entrance and pushes inside me.
Slowly at first, allowing my body to adjust to his size, but he picks up the pace when neither one of us can wait any longer.
But just as quickly as this begins, he pauses and looks around like he’s heard something.
“What is it?” I ask, tucking myself against his thick chest.
He shakes his head. “Nothing.”
We both have reason to be paranoid that someone could see us, but there is a level of not caring when you are so far gone in a moment like this.
I don’t have time to think before he starts moving his hips and pushing in and out, over and over again, allowing the friction of our bodies to build the pleasurable pressure between us. I start to lose myself in this man. Everything is so intense between us that I’ve never experienced anything like it before, and I'm not sure that I can handle this.
Colin cups his hand around the back of my neck and urges me to look at him. The intensity of his gaze is enough to root me here in this moment with him.
I’m falling in love with him.
“Stay with me,” he says.
But I’m not sure if he means in this moment or with him in Scotland for the rest of our lives.
I hold onto him, never breaking eye contact as he drives us both to the brink of this orgasmic bliss. We reach the precipice and tumble over together. My limbs quiver with the reverberations of my release. Colin’s grip on me is so tight, but it’s just what I need to feel like I won’t float away, that he won’t let me go.
Stay with me. His words echo in my mind.

COLIN
When I wake up the following day, I reach out across the bed. The need to be touching Brianna, to know she's close is stronger than anything I've ever felt before. But her side of the bed is empty, and the sheets are cold.
After our first time together, we didn't stick around the festival. Brianna headed inside first, leaving me to say my goodbyes before excusing myself quickly. I checked her room first and found her waiting for me there.
“Brianna?” I call out, but she doesn’t answer.
I look around the room and see the Lady of the Loch dress draped over the bench at the end of the bed, but her regular clothes are gone.
Panic like a bucket of ice water dumped on me hits me. I’d gone to pick up her camper van last night so that she’d have her things, but is it possible that she left?
I grab my trousers and shirt off the floor and pull them on as I run down the steps. Ainslie is in the kitchen sipping on a cup of tea, and I nearly landed on my arse, trying to stop in the doorway when I see her.
“Where’s Brianna?” I ask.
Ainslie looks up and shrugs nonchalantly. “I heard her leave this morning.”
I don’t wait around to hear what else she says. I’m running towards the door and swing it open. I stop just outside the door when I see her camper van is still parked where I left it.
“What is your problem?” Ainslie calls after me.
“Where is Brianna?” I ask again.
Ainslie scowls and crosses her arms. It feels like an eternity before she speaks again. “I told you I heard her leave early this morning, but I think she took a walk down to the loch.”
I turn and sta
rt running in the direction of the loch.
“Don’t you need your boots?” Ainslie calls after me, but I don’t bother answering her.
I’m near the tree line when I see Brianna standing near the water’s edge, just as I did when I first saw her. She’s staring out at the water.
“Brianna!” I call out, the uneasy grip on my heart releasing a bit when I see her.
She turns but doesn’t smile or show any sign that she’s happy to see me.
“What are you doing out here?” I ask, closing the distance between us.
She holds out her hand to stop me when I reach for her. “I needed some time to think.”
“About what?”
“About us.”
The grip on my heart tightens again. “What do you mean?”
"This is all happening so fast." She turns back to the water. "I thought that's what I wanted to meet someone and fall so completely for them just like Katherine did with Graeme.”
I shake my head, not knowing who she’s talking about, but she continues before I can ask.
"But it's different in real life. The stakes are higher. The pain feels so much stronger and it could cripple you if it doesn't work out."
“But what if it does work out?”
She shakes her head. “You can’t guarantee that we will get our happily ever after.”
“You’re right. No one can guarantee that if you take a chance on another person that it won’t bring you some pain along the way. But that’s how you know it’s real. I'm real. I'm here standing in front of you." I pull the letter out of my pocket and hand it back to her. "I'm not a fictionalized version of a man you had in your head. There will be ups and downs, but we will work through them together."
She throws her arms up and laughs humorously. “I don’t even live here.”
I point to the letter. “You weren’t afraid of the miles between us then. We will figure it out. If you want to move here, that’s great. If you want me to go back with you to America, I will follow you. I don’t want perfect. I want something real—with you. What do you want?”
She looks down at the letter in her hands, brushing her fingertips across the envelope. I hold my breath and wait while she decides what she wants. I can only hope that my words, my kiss, my love is enough for her to take this chance with me, to create our own adventure.
Brianna tears the letter in half and drops the pieces on the pebbled shoreline.
“I want something real with you too.”
I close the distance between us, wrap my arms around her. “I love you so much,” I whisper to her.
“I love you too.”
I kiss her like it’s our last kiss but knowing that it’s only just the beginning for us.
"Maybe someday our story will be written," I say when I pull back to look at her.
She smiles and shakes her head. “Let everyone else have their fiction. Our story is just for us.”
Epilogue
BRIANNA
“Da-da-da-da!” Katherine garbles out as she watches her father stand and waits for the results from the caber toss.
The connection between the two of them is beyond words, and it's like he's heard her cheering him on when he glances over at the two of us. We are sitting in the front row with all the villagers in the stands, cheering on all the men as they compete.
I glance at the stage and see Ainslie in the same dress I wore three years ago when I played the Lady of the Loch.
After that first time, Colin refused to let me play the part again. He didn’t want to take the chance that he wouldn’t win, and I’d have to kiss someone else. But it was never a concern seeing how he’s won every year since, but he’d pass off the prized kiss to the champion who came in second place.
However, with his sister playing the Lady of the Loch this year, I feel my husband will hold back a bit and let someone else win—specifically Dougal. He and Ainslie have been dancing around one another for so long that even Colin is willing to step up and help push the two together.
The judges deem Dougal's caber toss as the winner, and my gaze swings over to Ainslie. The smile on her face is so bright that it could probably blind you if you stare at it too long.
As predicted, Dougal has officially broken Colin's three-year winning streak, and he makes his way over to the stage. It's adorable the way he runs his hand over the back of his neck nervously. I remember that eager lovesick tingly sensation that moves through you. I still feel it when Colin is near me.
Katherine starts to fidget in my arms, and I turn to see Colin jogging across the field towards us. He sits down in the empty seat next to me, straddling the bench and wrapping his arms around Katherine and me.
"Da-da-da-da!" she squeals, and he leans in and gives her a kiss on the nose that makes her laugh.
“Well done, babe,” I whisper to him. "You made it look like he actually outplayed you."
“To be honest, he did.”
I turn to look at him. “I know from experience that getting a kiss from the girl of your dreams is a pretty big motivator for a lad.” He makes a face and pulls me close. “I dinnae think I can watch this.”
I turn back just in time to see Ainslie plant a sweet peck on Dougal's cheek. I glance at Shaun, who is working as the announcer of the games this year, and nod. He smiles and nods back.
“Oh, go on, Lady,” Shaun chides, repeating the same thing that Ainslie said to me when Colin won. “Give him a kiss worthy of the champion he is.”
Colin and I both laugh at the glare that Ainslie shoots us. Finally, she was getting a taste of her own medicine.
“We’re both going to get it later,” Colin predicts.
“But not until after she gets it.”
“Och! Woman!” Colin groans and scoops Katherine up in his arms. “Your mother has a filthy mind.”
I reach out and let her grab the tip of my finger. “And your father is living in a fantasy land if he doesn’t think that is going to happen.”
He shakes his head at me, but the smile twisting up at the corner of his mouth tells me he’s not as annoyed as he’s pretending to be.
“Happy anniversary,” he says.
“Happy anniversary.”
“I love you more and more each day.”
I lean and kiss the Highlander that I wished for so long ago. I couldn't have imagined the wonderful life we have together, but we are experiencing our own adventure, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
